How Micro can Micro-investing be?

The way people put up their campaigns on the various crowdfunding sites is maturing all the time.

The latest trends, for example, are a) for people to include "stretch goals" - what they'll do if backer pledge more than they originally ask for, and b) to include descriptions of the various rewards in the body of the text of the campaign, even though the "rewards" section is fully visible. But they can go into more detail and generate more excitement this way.

If you look at a crowdfunding campaign - I'm talking only of Kickstarter and IndieGoGo now, but I am confident that any other crowdfunding campaign will have the same capability - it doesn't matter what their minimum pledge amount is ($5, $10, $100) you can always bid a small amount - $1.

For Kickstarter, in the green button where you pledge, it will say, "Minimum pledge $1", and on IndieGoGo you can input the amount you want to pledge, starting at $1.

So if you are a micro-investor, and I hope through FAEO that we will introduce hundreds of thousands of people to the micro-investment ranks, you don't need to pledge $5 or $10 or more - though obviously that would be nice.

You can pledge a single dollar.

What good is a single dollar? Well, if a thousand people who just want to "help out" a project pledged a single dollar, that's $1,000 right there.

The goal of FAEO is to let that thousand people know of a really great - or at least interesting - campaign that they can contribute a tiny sum to, and watch it all add up and make an entrepreneur's ambition come true... and the backer will hear the bell as he or she gets his angel's wings. (Okay, that's an analogy from It's A Wonderful Life, and I have to work on it so it sounds a bit more clever, but you get the idea.)

Help Restore a Vintage Art Trailer for At Risk Youth

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/151482183/on-the-move-art-studio-help-us-restore-a-vintage-t?ref=hero_thanks

is the URL ... and this is another fun project. They are two-thirds of the way to their goal, they only need another $1,500. Micro-investors, now's the time to give them an early Christmas present - if you are an art lover or want to help share the ability to create art with others.

A few paragraphs from their campaign:

We believe in the power of visual arts to empower and enrich the lives of at risk youth. That is why we have purchased a 1969 Streamline trailer to bring art classes to impoverished neighborhoods in our community.

It is our goal to transform this stylin' Streamline into a mobile art studio, offering diverse classes for children to experience the gratification of creating beautiful drawings, paintings, jewelry and more.

Studies support the numerous benefits of art education for children, including a closing of the gap between low and high-income students' academic achievement.

With your support, we hope to build a fun atmosphere to foster creative achievements for at risk youth to experience the many benefits of art!

Only 2 days left to back this fun project: Always Get on the Boat

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/138285656/constance-hockaday-presents-always-get-on-the-boat?ref=thanks

The first few paragraphs of the campaign.

ALWAYS GET ON THE BOAT is a performative and immersive art project on a 175 foot retired coast guard vessel.

What does it mean to always get on the boat?

There is a dwindling wilderness that runs parallel to our modern lives. It’s easy to forget it’s there or that we have access to it.

Always get on the boat is something that my friends and I say to each other when one of us is on shore and the rest of us are on the boat about to take off. The typical "are you coming?" and pleading "Come on, get on" happens and then inevitably the one on shore starts asking:

Should I go?

Do I have everything I need?

Will we make it back in time for BLANK?

Will we survive this?

The answers to these questions are impossible to know. And so, to expedite this process we made a rule.

It sounds like fun and if I lived in New York, I'd go.

If you're in to theatre, alternative theatre, performance art, creative space making, etc. check this out and support them!

Kickstarter: Sasha Daniel Debut Album (Music)

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/487943547/sasha-daniel-debut-album is the URL for Sasha Daniel, who is attempting to fund her debut album.

She's got plenty of videos on YouTube for you to check out.

Here's her description of her album from her Kickstarter campaign:

The Album All the songs on this upcoming album talk about heartfelt moments and realizations that I’ve experienced in the past few years. In order to capture those as truthfully as possible it’s important to record and share them now, while they are vivid in my mind’s eye.

On December 14th Dov Igel, Max Oleartchik, Mathias Kunzli and myself are going into a studio to spend three full days recording eight songs. A few days later I will fly to Los Angeles for a week to work 10 hour days with my childhood friend, Anna "Annalog" Feller, an incredibly talented musician and producer. Together we will record vocals, keyboards (and other cool sounds) which will bring the album to completion. In order to do all the above we need to raise $12,000. This money will go toward:

·Rehearsals
·Musicians
·Studio time
·Mixing and mastering
·Art work
·CD printing

If we raise money BEYOND our goal we'll be able to pay for PR services, distribute the music to wider audience, create a new music video and finally, start funding our next tour!

Go Fund Me: Motorcycle Accident Victim Needs Help

http://www.gofundme.com/f5t6yg is the URL.

GoFundMe.com is a site where people in need of help to pay medical bills, funeral expenses, and things of that nature, go to ask for help.

Typically, the donors are individuals who know the people involved.

Well, I know the mother of this young man, and I thought I'd post it on Crowdfunder Magazine just to see if it was possible to get some country-wide help.

Of course, if you go through the campaigns on GoFundMe.com you'll find a lot of worthy campaigns to donate to. Even donating just $5 to 5 campaigns, of things that catch your interest, would be a great help.

Philip's mom has hired a personal injury attorney, but it will be several - several - months before any settlement is made. The need for money to pay bills is now.

Indeed, from the info his mom has been sharing, it's extremely complicated when someone's son has been involved in an accident, as she has no power of attorney to do anything with his money, and he is not compos mentis to assign one to her. (One would hope a judge would be able to see that he *can't* make a decision, and since she's his mother and plenty of witnesses could be called to testify that they are on perfect terms, so there's no reason why she shouldn't be granted power of attorney.. - that's something I'm going to research into, just for general info purposes.) Anyway, enough of that segue.

If you'd care to help, please visit his GoFundMe.com page.

Woodworking: The Birdhouse Builder, by Michael Lee

This is a Kickstarter campaign, located in their Crafts/Woodworking section.

URL: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1861914619/the-birdhouse-builder?ref=category_featured

The campaign will end on October 12, 2014.

Is the video.

This project looks like a lot of fun.

Michael Lee wants to build bird houses and needs the funds for the following reasons:

1. Up grade my power tools to continue to build these distinctive and unique birdhouses.
2. Invest in the next available barn up-cycling opportunity ( buying or salvaging barn wood ).
3. Upgrade my work space to accommodate higher volume of work year round, bigger work and storage space, as well as heated ( wood stove using wood scraps).
4, Marketing strategy, promote web-site with SEO, Participate in craft shows, Silent auctions, and exhibitions.

Unfortunately, I live in a place where I have no room for a bird house, but I'd love to support his project with a dollar! Unfortunately, he only has options of $25 and $50 - for which you'd get one or two bird houses.

He's also got a website, http://woodshacks.com

Technology: The Speaker Pod

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/speaker-pod is the URL for an IndieGoGo campaign for the Speaker Pod, a speaker about the size of a smart phone, except a little thicker, which is a wireless speaker. "Big sound in a small package."

This campaign is scheduled to end on 29 October, 2014.

The user simply turns on the Speaker Pod then turns on his or her smarthphone and places it on top of the Pod. The sound comes flowing out.

is their video on YouTube.

If you love to listen to music on your smartphone, check this out. According to their campaign page, the speaker pod is all ready to go into production (meaning it's gone through the design and testing stages, they just need the funds to produce it.)

They're accepting pledges as low a $1, so if you like the idea, help them out.

Manifesto

The audience for this magazine is those individuals who have the discretionary funds to make pledges to back small businesses, entrepreneurs, and people who need help paying their medical bills or frankly...any worthy cause.

We visit a crowdfunding site every couple of days or so, and drill down into the topics to find a campaign of interest which we will share here.

We also have a video channel where Crowdfunder Magazine appears as a videozine.
